Tonight we have two bands instead of the usual three artists
The HOOK
Drummer and founder Henk of blues band the HOOK has his roots in the rock scene of Winterswijk, deep in the AchterHOOK region. The HOOK is a band that has built a repertoire of blues and roots rock. Songs by the somewhat lesser-known blues artists are adapted into HOOK songs, usually with a raw edge. Singer and guitarist Jim comes from the Arnhem rock and reggae scene. His contribution to the band is passion and depth. You have to feel it. Guitarist and lap steel player Johannes’ musical history lies in the grunge and rock scene in Nijmegen. He mostly lays a solidly thundering groove under the songs. Ruurd has been plucking his blues harp for a long time in ‘s-Hertogenbosch where he still plays very actively, but he’s now also playing with the HOOK. Bassist Henk V. has been playing his dark tones with many a band in the Betuwe region. His sound fits in seamlessly with that of the HOOK. Together with drummer Henk K., they lay the foundation for the band.
The Blue Mules
The Blue Mules bring energetic, authentic bluegrass with their own twist. With violin, banjo, guitar, double bass and multi-part harmonies, they create a raw but sparkling sound that oozes both tradition and authenticity.
The artists performing at our Open Mic Night will be announced roughly three weeks in advance.
