Ivy Takes Over
Ivy Takes Over is a rock cover band that brings the raw energy of the ’90s and ’00s back to the stage with full force. With an explosive live show, the four-piece formation from Utrecht plays a set full of iconic tracks by the likes of Nirvana, Guano Apes, Papa Roach, No Doubt, Green Day, Anouk and The Offspring.
Ivy Takes Over was formed in mid-2024 from the shared love of bass guitarist Sander and lead vocalist Joyce for solid, alternative rock from the ’90s and ’00s. Soon drummer Friek (with strong backing vocals that perfectly complement the lead vocals) and guitarist Roelof joined the band. These four experienced musicians each do much more than just play their instruments. Everyone sings along, Sander combines bass guitar with synthesiser and Roelof switches effortlessly between various electric guitars and acoustic, creating a dynamic yet tight sound. The strong musical and personal chemistry within the band is visible on stage and is often mentioned by the audience: “You can see how much fun they have together.”
What sets Ivy Takes Over apart is their own sound: no exact copies, but a recognisable and original repertoire delivered with passion, power and conviction. Come and sing along and go wild!
