The band Horaki plays world music with their own sound. Melancholic tones from the Balkans, swinging music from the 1950s and rousing rhythms from Latin America. You won’t be able to sit still, you’ll just have to dance!

Horaki is a combination of the words ‘Hora’, a dance from Romania, and ‘Raki’, an alcoholic drink popular in many Balkan countries. Together, the members of Horaki play a range of world instruments.

The basic line-up is violin/piano, accordion, guitar, percussion and vocals. This is supplemented by instruments that emphasise the character of the music, such as a darabuka or banjo. The band often performs at weddings, parties, Dutch and international festivals, on the streets, at fairs and other occasions, and turns every performance into a celebration!
