Deutscher Abend with Paul Mulder, Theo Scholten and Johan Hendriks
Deutscher Abend at De Lantaern? Aber natürlich! After all, all of us here are part of the border region, aren’t we? And that certainly applies to Paul, Theo and Johan, the musicians for this evening. Following last year’s overwhelming success, they’re back again!
Singer and guitarist Paul Mulder grew up in Tolkamer, where German Schlager music filled the air in his parents’ pub, with the jukebox blaring day after day.
As a lad, Theo Scholten already played polkas and Unterhaltungsmusik on his accordion. His birthplace Wehl was still part of Prussia some 200 years ago, as were other parts of the Liemers region.
As the drummer for Drie Keer Niks and Dauerbrenner, Johan Hendriks boasts an international career that stretches all the way to Emmerich and back. And he can literally see Germany from his bedroom window at home in Lobith. Basically, these men are deeply rooted in German music, and they’ll certainly show it. Nena, Heino, Trio, Udo Jürgens, Helene Fischer, Peter Maffay are all on the set list.
You don’t want to miss that, or as our neighbours to the east say: ‘Dabei sein, ist Alles!’
