Awash
The Brabant-based band Awash plays indie pop rock. Captivating on both a small and large scale, lyrical, fragile and full of devotion. With various radio appearances (Nachtegiel and Ekdom in de nacht on 3FM), national and international festivals and a tour of the UK under their belt, they’re now embarking on the Awash 15-year-anniversary tour.
Not a trendy fad, but a driven marathon. Not poppy enough, not proper rock? Nonetheless, it’s a sound that echoes the ‘80s and ‘90s, featuring forgotten guitar solos, fretless bass, organ and a vocalist’s throat reminiscent of your old CDs, but it still manages to feel contemporary.
And yet, something has changed. By finally revealing a side of themselves that has been concealed for too long, the new album ‘To where the river starts’ feels like a debut. The band collaborated with American producer Warren Huart (Aerosmith, The Fray, The Ramones) for several tracks on this album.
Awash is also referred to as ‘Racoon Plus’ in reviews, and frontman Geert’s voice is often compared to that of Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam). A band full of talented musicians not to be missed!
